Anti Barking Devices

Get what you need to control dog barking, whether it is your own dog, or a neighbor's.

The most common types of anti-barking devices are either shock collars or collars that emit a high-pitched frequency. There is, however, a relatively new type of collar that also deters dogs from barking. It is called the spray collar.

A spray collar acts much like the other anti-barking collars in that it has a sensor that detects when a dog barks. However, instead of responding with a startling jolt or an irritating noise, the collar sprays a small puff of water that is mixed with a strong scent. Most commonly used is a citronella formula in the collar.

The advantage to a spray collar is that it is deemed more humane than the shock collar. Some might argue, however, that because of the sensitivity of a dog's nose, having constantly strong-smelling spray around it could be even a stronger deterrent (and perhaps even less kind than a quick shock!).

There are two main problems with spray collars. First, you need to constantly refill the spray formula if the dog is barking a lot. Secondly, unlike the shock collar or the sonic collar, everyone around the dog, and not just the dog itself, is affected by the spray collar.

Based on that last problem alone, the other types of anti barking devices have an edge over the spray collar.
